It was not a typical speech by the past Philippine presidents. The usual speech takes around 30 to 60 minutes to deliver and the people get so bored listening to it. The speech of President Noynoy Aquino lasted a total of 20 minutes although the original plan is for it to take around 8-10 minutes just like that of President Magsaysay, but it never happened.

The content of the speech started with acknowledging the guests present at the inaugural and then saying, "he had never imagined himself being a President." That is true since Noynoy Aquino is not really planning to run for the presidency. Well not until most of the people forced him to run after her mother died. Noynoy Aquino, in fact stressed that it was the people who gave him that opportunity and thus the people who elected him and every Filipino should help him. He wants each Filipino to share the burden of uplifting the country. He said that he cannot do it alone and indeed he cannot do it alone as the other presidents failed miserably in doing so. He shows political will by indirectly saying that change needs to start from him and from simple things. When President Aquino says, "no wang-wang" and "no counter flows" it does not only mean the term literally because it means we need to respect simple things so that other things will be respected. He wants to lead by example and to be a better leader for the Philippines.

President Noynoy Aquino stressed the need for a better education, the need for justice to be served equally and timely, and the need to eradicate corruption so that the Philippines will earn respect among other nations. He also told everyone that he had forgiven those who have acted wrong against him. However, he has no power to forgive those who have committed corruptions against the country and its people. This only means that those who have engaged crimes against the Filipino people should be brought to justice and they should pay for what they did. That is in fact the main reason why he selected former Chief Justice Hilario Davide to lead the Truth Commission. President Aquino said that he would never fail his parents and the people to continue to preserve and nurture what they have started. President Noynoy would have to do his promises because people are hoping and waiting for a change.

If there is one thing that is really clear, he is the first President to have said that he cannot do it alone and admits his weaknesses.

Congratulations to our new president, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III!
